IRVING, Texas (AP) — Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins has returned to practice and right tackle Tyron Smith was partially suited up the day after each left practice with knee injuries.
When they went down Wednesday, the club was concerned both starters might miss the opener against the New York Jets on Sunday night. Things looked a lot brighter Thursday, even with Smith’s status to be determined.
Smith wasn’t carrying his helmet and only watched as fellow linemen did some individual drills.
Jenkins warmed up with the full squad and appeared to be fine. The Cowboys already are expecting to be without one starting cornerback, Terence Newman, who hasn’t recovered from a groin injury.
