HERMISTON, Ore. (AP) — A company that makes snack foods in Eastern Oregon says it’s hiring — 100 new employees.

The East Oregonian (http://bit.ly/qtHR3j ) says that on the heels of dismal news about the lack of job growth nationwide, Shearer’s Foods has announced it’s hiring for the evening and overnight shifts.

The Ohio-based company recently completed a 140,000-square-foot addition to its plant to produce kettle-cooked potato chips. The paper said the $18 million expansion resulted in 50 new hires.
