TACOMA, Wash. (AP) -- It was an unusual request and a Tacoma, Wash., man's neighbors mentioned to police that he had asked if he could use their garbage bin to throw away a body. Police who checked the bin found the body of a 16-year-old boy.
Police spokesman Mark Fulghum tells The News Tribune (http://bit.ly/qsDnjd) that a 20-year-old man was arrested Thursday for investigation of first-degree murder.
The Pierce County medical examiner says the teen died of a gunshot to the head. He was not identified pending notification of relatives.
The spokesman says after the trash bin inquiry Wednesday, the man's neighbors left the area, ran into members of the police gang unit on an unrelated call nearby, and passed on the information.
Detectives believe the victim and arrested man knew each other.
