Blackhawks acquire F David Toews from Islanders

CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Blackhawks have acquired forward David Toews (tayvz) from the New York Islanders in exchange for future considerations.

The move was announced Friday. The 21-year-old Toews is the younger brother of Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews.

Originally selected by the Islanders 66th overall in the 2008 entry draft, Toews spent two seasons at North Dakota, notching nine goals and 17 assists in 55 NCAA games with the Fighting Sioux. He had 20 goals, 28 assists and 16 penalty minutes in 60 regular-season games with the Western Hockey League’s Brandon Wheat Kings last season. He had two goals and five assists in six playoff games.
