ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Michigan coach Brady Hoke says keeping players focused will be easier said than done when they play Notre Dame in the Big House’s first night game.

The school plans to distribute 100,000 maize pompoms, pay tribute to graduates who lost their lives on Sept. 11 and honor former star Desmond Howard.

Then, there will actually be a game.

Stakes will be high for both storied programs. The Wolverines are trying to build momentum after routing Western Michigan in a weather-shortened game in Brady Hoke’s debut.

The Fighting Irish need to bounce back from losing to South Florida at home as Brian Kelly kicked off his second season in charge.
