Chattanooga cruises past Jacksonville State 38-17

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — B.J. Coleman threw a pair of touchdown passes and Chris Awuah ran for two more, leading Chattanooga past Jacksonville State 38-17 on Saturday night.

Coleman, who finished 23 for 33 passing with 296 yards, broke a 17-17 tie with a 47-yard TD pass to Joel Bradford with 3:01 left before halftime. The Mocs (1-1) would hold the Gamecocks scoreless the rest of the way to earn the victory.

Awuah ran for 77 yards on 17 carries, and Bradford had 15 catches for 162 yards for Chattanooga.

The Mocs scored 15 unanswered points in the second half, including Awuah’s 1-yard TD run in the third quarter and Wes Dothard’s 30-yard interception return for a score in the fourth.

The Gamecocks (1-1) took a 14-7 lead in the first quarter, thanks to a 4-yard TD run from Georgia transfer Washaun Ealey and an 8-yard scoring rush from Calvin Middleton.
