CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — Aramis Hillary scored one touchdown through the air and another on the ground, leading Coastal Carolina in a 20-3 win over Catawba on Saturday night.
Hillary was 16 for 24 passing for 220 yards and also had 14 yards on six carries for the Chanticleers (2-0), who held the Division II Indians scoreless in the second half to earn the win.
After Grant Clayton’s 26-yard field goal opened the scoring for Coastal Carolina, Hillary connected with Matt Hazel on a 52-yard touchdown. Catawba followed with the team’s only score, a 38-yard Thomas Trexler field goal, before Hillary’s 3-yard rushing score put the Chanticleers up 17-3 at the end of the first quarter.
Clayton’s 23-yard field goal with 5:35 left before halftime gave Coastal Carolina it’s final margin, as neither team scored again.
Jacob Charest was 21 of 31 for 165 yards to lead Catawba.
