TERREBONE, Ore. (AP) — A Madras man has survived after a piece of wood from a tractor trailer smashed through his windshield and impaled him through his upper-left chest.

KVAL-TV reports (http://bit.ly/r0XOyt ) 28-year old Joshua Wagenblast crossed a center lane of traffic on State Route 97 and hit the trailer before colliding nearly head-on with another car.

Susan Kasting, the 63-year-old driver of the other car, suffered serious injuries in the crash.

Wagenblast was southbound in a 2000 Chrysler Concorde when he struck a pickup hauling a trailer and continued to make contact with the trailer’s left side. A piece of wood from the trailer pierced Wagenblast’s windshield and struck him.
