Letter: Move city forward with new councilor

The Columbian
Published: September 9, 2011, 5:00pm

Candidate Bill Turlay is a man of unquestionable integrity who will do what is right for Vancouver and Clark County. Turlay understands economic development. He believes in supporting local businesses and lightening the regulatory burden that crushes long-term job creation by entrepreneurs. As a Washougal city councilor, I know that he understands that the city’s purpose for being is to provide core municipal services, not to dally in projects designed primarily to provide ribbon-cutting ceremonies for ambitious politicians. He knows how to prioritize the use of available revenues and eliminate spending extraneous to the city mission. Given the continuing economic downtrend that shows little sign of abating in the next few years, candidates with Turlay’s background and skills will be required to keep Vancouver’s City Council moving.
