COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Nick Soolsma and Ryan Johnson scored in the first half, and Julian De Guzman got the game-winner in the 83rd minute to help Toronto FC beat the Columbus Crew for the first time, 4-2 on Saturday night.
Danny Koevermans sealed the win with a goal in the second minute of stoppage time for Toronto (5-12-12), which came in 0-5-7 against the Crew.
Tommy Heinemann scored in the 67 minute and Andres Mendoza pulled Columbus (11-9-7) to 3-2 in the 87th. The Crew lost their second straight and fell into a tie with Sporting Kansas City for first place in the Eastern Conference.
Toronto goalie Stefan Frei left the game after a collision with Columbus forward Emilio Renteria just before Heinemann got the Crew on the scoreboard.
