Warren lifts S. Dakota past E. Washington, 30-17

VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) — Dante Warren threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score and Jim Thompson returned an interception 67 yards for a touchdown as South Dakota defeated Eastern Washington 30-17 on Saturday.

Warren scored on a 2-yard run and threw a 48-yard scoring pass to Jeremy Blount. Warren rushed 19 times for 69 yards and completed 8 of 15 passes for 126 yards.

Thompson’s return came with 7:49 left in the second quarter and gave South Dakota a 21-0 lead.

Kevin Robb booted field goals of 33, 33 and 30 yards in the second half to help South Dakota (1-1) maintain a comfortable advantage.

Bo Mitchell had a big passing effort for Eastern Washington (0-2), completing 38 of 60 passes for 369 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
