INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indianapolis Colts opened last season with an ugly loss and coach Jim Caldwell could almost pull out the same speech to rally his team this time around.

Except he doesn’t have Peyton Manning to bail out the Colts.

Caldwell says Sunday’s 34-7 debacle was all about execution and nothing to do with effort.

What went wrong Sunday? Everything. New quarterback Kerry Collins lost two fumbles that led to Houston TDs, the defense couldn’t get off the field and the Colts even gave up a punt return for a score.

And for the first time in more than a decade, Indy must regroup without Manning while he spends the next 2-3 months recovering from neck surgery.
