French cycling federation suspends Longo's husband

PARIS (AP) -- The French Cycling Federation has suspended the husband of former Olympic champion Jeannie Longo pending disciplinary action after French sports daily L'Equipe reported that he bought the performance-enhancing substance EPO.
An interview published Tuesday cites American cyclist Joe Papp as saying Longo's husband, Patrice Ciprelli, bought EPO in 2007. Papp says Ciprelli "indicated it was for his wife."
In a statement, the federation says that if proven true, the allegations in the report would constitute "particularly serious behavior contrary to the values of cycling."
