BEND, Ore. (AP) — Seven weeks to the day after a crash in southeast Bend killed a 16-year-old teen biking, a man has been arrested on negligent homicide charges.
KTVZ reports (http://bit.ly/r90Ug7 ) that 28-year-old Erik Mackenzie Conn was booked Monday into county jail and held on a $150,000 bail. Authorities say Conn was texting two minutes before the crash. Witnesses told police Conn was speeding.
Conn told police he pulled over to text and was minding the 45 miles per hour speed limit.
The teen — Forrest Cepeda — was pinned between Conn’s truck and a rock after the crash.
