CLEVELAND (AP) — The agent for Browns punter Richmond McGee said the first-year kicker injured his back in warmups on Sunday and will be placed on injured reserve.

McGee averaged just 36 yards on eight kicks in the season-opening loss to Cincinnati, shanking his first NFL punt 20 yards and getting off kicks of 28 and 30 yards. On Monday, Browns coach Pat Shurmur said the club was “evaluating” McGee.

Agent David Canter said McGee herniated a disk in his back. Canter said McGee told him he “could hardly feel his legs” in the second half. He will not need surgery.

There are reports the Browns have signed punter Brad Maynard, who spent 10 seasons with Chicago. He was waived by Houston earlier this month. Maynard also has experience as a holder.

The team has not confirmed any roster moves.
