Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center’s cardiovascular rehabilitation program has earned national certification from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

Certification recognizes those programs that are rigorously reviewed by a national board and found to meet strict national standards and guidelines for patient safety and treatment protocols, according to a news release from Legacy.

Cardiovascular rehabilitation programs are designed to help people with cardiovascular problems recover faster and improve their quality of life. Services include clinically monitored exercise, education, counseling and support for patients and their families.

Goals center around increasing cardiac fitness, increasing awareness about cardiovascular disease, reducing risk factors, assisting in the return to work, and promoting psychological adjustment, according to the medical center.

The national certification is valid for three years.
