A Vancouver motorist was ticketed Wednesday afternoon after he moved right for an approaching police car, its flashing lights and siren on, and hit a third vehicle.

About 2:22 p.m., Nufar Tedorov, 72, was at the wheel of a 1990 Toyota Camry, headed north on Interstate 5 one mile north of Vancouver, when he noticed the police car approaching, according to a bulletin from the Washington State Patrol.

Tedorov moved the the right but hit the left front of a 2001 Dodge Durango driven by Kathleen Phillips, 62, of Beaverton, Ore., the bulletin said.

Tedorov’s Camry then veered right, hit a concrete barrier and spun, hitting the barrier a second time.

Tedorov was treated at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center and released. He was ticketed for allegedly making an unsafe lane change, the bulletin said.

Phillips was not reported injured.
