CORDOBA, Spain (AP) — Four days after losing the U.S. Open final, Rafael Nadal will play for Spain in Friday’s opening singles match of the Davis Cup semifinal against France.

Nadal, who lost to Novak Djokovic in New York on Monday, will play Richard Gasquet. Spain No. 2 David Ferrer takes on Gilles Simon in the second singles match on Friday.

France captain Guy Forget reserved his top-ranked player Jo-Wilfried Tsonga for Saturday’s doubles with Michael Llodra against Spain’s pair of Fernando Verdasco and Feliciano Lopez.

On Sunday, Nadal is set to play Simon while Ferrer takes on Gasquet.

Spain, which hasn’t lost at home since 1999, was without Nadal when it was beaten 5-0 by France last year.
