April Grindle sprang into action Monday when the car behind her was hit by an SUV on Fourth Plain Road in Orchards on Monday.

The collision, between a Volkswagen Bug and and an SUV, happened around 10:15 a.m. at the intersection of Northeast Fourth Plain Road and 106th Avenue.

The Vancouver woman, who is six months pregnant, helped tend to the Volkswagen’s injured driver and her passenger. She called the woman’s husband and stayed to talk with emergency personnel.

The two people Grindle tended to and the driver of the SUV were taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, Vancouver fire Capt. Kevin Murray said Monday. No information was available on their conditions Wednesday.
