GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida defensive lineman Sharrif Floyd is back, just in time for Tennessee quarterback Tyler Bray.
Floyd watched the first two games from the sideline, unable to change his situation, unable to help the 16th-ranked Gators. The sophomore was ruled ineligible for receiving $2,700 from an individual not associated with the university. The decision devastated Floyd, who had tears in his eyes as coach Will Muschamp told him he couldn’t play.
His return Saturday could be equally emotional.
Teammates say Florida should provide a boost for a defense that failed to record a sack last week against UAB. Muschamp has repeatedly said he wants more pressure from his defensive line.
Floyd played in every game last year and emerged as one of the team’s most versatile and disruptive defenders.
