The Mount St. Helens Institute’s Volcano Views and Brews speaker series returns to Vancouver next week with a presentation on glacier retreat in Oregon’s Three Sisters mountains.

Northwest native and geologist Jim O’Connor will present “Our Vanishing Glaciers: 100 Years of Glacier Retreat in the Three Sisters” on Sept. 20 at Bella’s Courtyard coffee lounge. The talk will also touch on changing landforms and vegetation in the Three Sisters since the culmination of the “Little Ice Age” in the 1850s.

The speaker series is held on the third Tuesday of each month. O’Connor’s presentation begins at 6:30 p.m. Bella’s Courtyard is located in the Academy building at 400 E. Evergreen Blvd. in downtown Vancouver. The event is free — food and beverages are available for purchase — but space is limited.
