Cardinal leery of Wildcats after ’09 loss

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — After rolling over its first two opponents, Stanford is facing a team that has struggled to stop the pass.

But the sixth-ranked Cardinal (2-0) aren’t looking at Saturday night’s game against Arizona (1-1) as another potential walkover. Not after what happened the last time they played the Wildcats in the desert.

Unable to hold onto a sizable first-half lead, Stanford lost to Arizona 43-38 in 2009 after giving up a touchdown in the final three minutes.

The Cardinal comes into this game as big favorites, though.

Stanford has one of the best players in the country in quarterback Andrew Luck and a slew of playmakers on offense, which could pose problems for Arizona after it struggled against Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden in a loss last week.
