Talking Points: Silly or optimistic?

What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

1

Optimistic?

Or just plain dumb?

The Portland Trail Blazers announced Thursday that all 82 of their games this upcoming season will be televised in high definition for the third consecutive season.

(Sidenote: If the HD thing has been done the past two years, it’s not that big of a deal that it’s happening again. Now if the Blazers announced that they were going back to standard def for a few games because HD makes all their mistakes too clear, then that would be worthy of a story.)

But what we really question is announcing a TV schedule for a season that might not happen.

Or, the NBA might have a shortened season. (That’s been done previously.) And a brand new schedule will have to be devised.

In other words, don’t make your TV viewing plans just yet, Blazer fans.

Houston’s Andre Johnson obviously does not understand that wide receivers are supposed to be self-centered prima donnas.

He told a radio host that he does not believe he is the best receiver in the NFL. He thinks he’s in the top 5.

Refreshing. Especially from someone who really could be considered the best.
