NEW YORK (AP) —

Nick Womack ignited the Fordham attack with a 100-yard interception return as the Rams rallied to beat Columbia 21-14 on Saturday.

It was just the third 100-yard play in school history — the others were kickoff returns.

Columbia (0-1) led 7-0 and was driving before Womack’s pick sparked 21 unanswered points and allowed the Rams (1-1) to take control.

Peter Maetzold threw two second half touchdowns, the first a 60-yarder to Sam Ajala in the third quarter. His 16-yard toss to Carlton Koonce gave Fordham a 21-7 lead late in the fourth.

Maetzold finished with 212 yards on 22 of 30 passing and Darryl Whiting had 103 yards rushing.

Sean Brackett threw for two touchdowns and 239 yards on 18 of 38 passing in the loss.

Now in its 10th season, the Liberty Cup series was initiated in 2002 to commemorate those who lost their lives on Sept. 11.
