PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) — A former Umatilla High School principal has lost his teaching license after a decades-old sexual relationship with a student was revealed to the state’s education licensing commission.

The East Oregonian reports (http://bit.ly/pqPedH ) Anthony Villanueva is alleged to have begun the affair with the student in the summer of 1991, after her junior in his personal-finance class.

According to an Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission report, the girl knew Villanueva’s family, and she moved into his house during her senior year.

The former student told a teacher in 2002 of the affair. That teacher received assurances the matter had been handled, but when she became superintendent in 2007, she found out it hadn’t.

The commission revoked Villanueva’s license in February.
