Fed. grand jury indicts OR man on child porn count

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Federal grand jurors have indicted a former Beaverton, Ore., middle school math teacher on a child pornography possession charge.

Tuesday's indictment came just a day after the Multnomah County district attorney's office moved to dismiss related state charges in favor of federal prosecution. Jurors in Portland had been just about to begin deliberating in the state case.

The Oregonian reports (http://bit.ly/nCFxkJ) that Logan B. Jack Storm is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.

The newspaper says the change in plans followed an argument from Storm's lawyers that he should be acquitted because the state couldn't prove that the case was filed in the proper county. He was accused of duplicating child porn images and storing them on a thumb drive but his lawyers said the duplication could have happened anywhere.
