PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh football coach Todd Graham felt the Panthers were the best team in the Big East when he took over in January.

Now that the school is heading to the ACC, he still likes his chances.

Graham said Monday he believes Pitt can compete for an ACC title whenever it joins the league and doesn’t think the conference’s size — currently at 14 teams and likely to grow — will be a detriment to getting to a BCS bowl game.

Graham praised the move, saying it opens doors for the Panthers on the recruiting trail and gives the program more of a national presence.

Pitt basketball coach Jamie Dixon laments the departure from the Big East, but added the school did all it could to help the conference before deciding to jump ship.
