BREMERTON, Wash. (AP) — Kitsap County commissioners approved the top recommendation of county Democrats on Monday and named environmental lawyer Drew Hansen of Bainbridge Island to fill a vacant seat in the Legislature for the district that includes Bremerton.
He’ll replace Rep. Christine Rolfes who was appointed to the Senate to fill the seat of Phil Rockefeller who resigned to accept an appointment to the Northwest Power and Conservation Council.
The Kitsap Sun reports (http://bit.ly/pori30 ) Hansen is a climate change attorney and a member of the state Community Economic Revitalization Board.
Hansen will have to run in 2012 to keep the state House seat.
