No. 5 Stanford ready to move on from Skov’s injury

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Jarek Lancaster and A.J. Tarpley will pay tribute to injured teammate Shayne Skov this season by spreading his signature eye black across their faces a little more liberally. Just don’t expect them to mimic his Mohawk, too.

With Skov out for the season with a torn left knee, No. 5 Stanford will rely on the two talented but untested linebackers to fill the void left by the absence of the team’s leading tackler. The defense has grown into one of the best in the nation behind Skov’s leadership, and his responsibilities now fall to Lancaster and Tarpley.

Even though Skov is injured, he already has been giving advice to both and plans to stay involved in team meetings.
