Motorists in the vicinity of Five Corners should watch for police activity in the 11100 block of Northeast 76th Street, south of the Padden Parkway and west of 117th Avenue.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home in that block at 10:49 a.m. Tuesday after a report of a distraught young woman armed with a shotgun and contemplating suicide.

Sheriff’s deputies have surrounded the house and established a command post, and are detouring traffic.

There have been no reports of anyone being hurt, nor any crimes being committed.

It’s normal procedure for deputies to try to convince a suicidal person believed to be armed to come out of their home so that they can be helped. It’s also normal for traffic to be diverted.

The incident is in a busy part of town near the Vancouver Trap Club and the 117th Avenue retail corridor.
