KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Billy Butler has been scratched from the Kansas City Royals’ lineup with the flu.

Manager Ned Yost says Butler was nauseous, received an IV and was isolated from the rest of the team.

Mitch Maier replaced Butler for Tuesday’s game against the Detroit Tigers. He made his first start of the season as the designated hitter.

Butler is hitting .292 with 19 homers and 90 RBIs.

Also, closer Joakim Soria remains sidelined with a strained right hamstring. He has not pitched since Sept. 11 at Seattle.
