10,000 ponderosa pines to be planted at Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- The Lands Council environmental group is enlisting hundreds of volunteers for a mass planting of 10,000 ponderosa pine seedlings on Oct. 22 around Spokane.
They call it Reforest Spokane Day.
The Spokesman-Review reports (http://bit.ly/rtx1GE ) the planting sites have been selected in cooperation with Spokane's urban forestry team and other agencies.
