Fargher Lake — Grangers from the Clark County area honored Sam Arola at Fargher Lake’s Appreciation Day ceremony Sept. 10. Craig Lynch, Fargher Grange master, awarded Arola for his role in the community. Arola, a traffic maintenance supervisor in Kelso and fire chief in Amboy, helped with a new fire station at Campers Hideaway and was the main force in starting the lawn mower races at Territorial Days.
Several grange members were honored for their time of service: Barbara Hagedorn, 68 years; Ruth Ham, 65 years; Mary Ann Brown, 65 years; Betty Carpenter, 49 years; Maxine Lester, 42 years; and Bianca Elmer, 26 years.
