Close Ally wins the Belmont feature

NEW YORK (AP) — Close Ally rallied to beat Gathering Cloud by three-quarters of a length in the $55,000 allowance feature on the turf at Belmont Park on Wednesday.

The lone 3-year-old in the field, Close Ally got his third win in nine starts. Julien Leparoux rode for trainer Neil Howard as Close Ally ran the 1 1-16 miles in 1:44.24, paying $7.60, $3.70 and $2.70. Gathering Cloud returned $4.70 and $3.10. Monument Hill paid $4.10 to show.
