LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) — A conflict over Longshore union jobs at a Port of Longview grain terminal flared up again Wednesday with the arrest of protesters blocking railroad tracks.
Helicopter video from KPTV showed officers taking into custody.
A spokesman for the Cowlitz County sheriff’s office, Grover Laseke (lay-seek-ee), says several people have been arrested for trespassing.
Earlier this month members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union stormed the EGT terminal and damaged rail cars.
ILWU workers believe they have the right to work at the new terminal. EGT has hired another firm that is staffing with different union workers.
