SEQUIM, Wash. (AP) — An African white rhinoceros named Ricky has died at the Olympic Game Farm at Sequim (skwim).

Farm President Bob Beebe says he died Sept. 12 of natural causes at the age of 31.

The rhino was acquired by his late grandfather, farm founder Lloyd Beebe, in 1984 from an animal actor training farm at San Diego.

The Peninsula Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/qpEucJ ) the 2-ton animal was one of the best-known animals at the farm. Ricky had to have his 4-foot horn trimmed twice in his life because it grew parallel to the ground rather than upward. He was tranquilized so about 3 feet of the horn could be trimmed off with a chain saw.
