TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Alabama coach Nick Saban says wide receiver Duron Carter isn’t likely to play this season.

Saban said Wednesday the highly touted junior college transfer and former Ohio State player will probably have to redshirt.

Saban says Alabama hasn’t received and might not receive “one piece of information” on Carter. Without it, he says Carter would have to live there for a year to be eligible.

He would have two seasons of eligibility remaining. Carter is the son of former Ohio State and NFL star receiver Cris Carter.

The 6-foot-4, 210-pounder received Julio Jones’ No. 8 and some of the playmaking expectations of the NFL first-round draft pick.

Carter spent one season at Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College and caught 44 passes for 690 yards and 10 touchdowns.
