SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A Spokane County jury has deadlocked in the case against a former police detective charged with obstructing a state wildlife officer.
Prosecutors say they will not seek a new trial against former detective Jeff Harvey after the jury reported it could not reach a unanimous decision.
Harvey was charged with obstruction following a January encounter with a state wildlife officer who was investigating a report of shots being fired along Deadman Creek north of Spokane. The investigation involved Harvey’s sons and their friend, two of whom later acknowledged firing the shots that led to the complaint.
State Fish and Wildlife Officer Dave Spurbeck testified that Harvey refused to allow him to interview the boys.
