PORT ORCHARD, Wash. (AP) — A driver who was texting when his car rear-ended another car, killing a baby in Kitsap County, was sentenced in Port Orchard Wednesday to three years in prison.
The 37-year-old East Bremerton man, Sidney E. Wright, entered a plea acknowledging he would be found guilty of vehicular homicide for the October 2010 crash that killed the infant, Enzo Williams.
The Kitsap Sun reports (http://bit.ly/mZXiQx ) the prosecutor said Wright was text-messaging at the time of the crash. There was no evidence he attempted to brake before hitting the car, which was stopped at a stop light.
