Romo at practice with injured rib, lung

IRVING, Texas (AP) — Tony Romo is back at practice with the Dallas Cowboys, his first since he cracked a rib and tore his lung during a comeback win at San Francisco.

Romo was on the field Thursday during the first 20 minutes of practice open to the media. He did not throw any passes and gingerly went through some stretches. He was not wearing a helmet.

Receivers Dez Bryant and Miles Austin were not on the field. Cornerback Terence Newman (groin) was practicing for the first time since early August, and running back Felix Jones (shoulder) was also present.

The Cowboys (1-1) were off Wednesday because they had so many serious injuries to key players headed into Monday night’s game against Washington (2-0).

Romo was scorned for bad plays and worse decisions in the closing minutes of the opener. His effort against the 49ers despite being injured drew praise for his toughness and leadership.
