COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (AP) — The bicycle rider killed in Cottage Grove is remembered as a community activist and volunteer.
Sixty-one-year-old Michele Portmann was a retired counselor at Cottage Grove High School who was elected in May to the South Lane School Board.
The Register Guard reports (http://bit.ly/reytGD ) she was killed Wednesday in a collision with a pickup truck at the intersection of a bike trail and a road.
The Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce honored her in January with its distinguished service award for her extensive volunteer work.
