County animal control board has opening

Clark County commissioners need to fill a vacancy on the 10-member Animal Protection and Control Advisory Board.

To qualify, an applicant must live in the county, be willing to attend quarterly meetings and have an interest in animals and animal-related problems.

The appointment will be immediate. Terms are for two years.

Completed applications must be received by Animal Protection and Control by 5 p.m. Sept. 30.

Applications may be mailed to P.O. Box 9810, Vancouver 98666-9810, or left with the receptionist on the third floor of the Clark County Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.

The group meets quarterly at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of the month at the Clark County Operations Center, 4700 N.E. 78th St.

Duties include reporting to the county commissioners and city councils at least once a year to recommend modifications or additions to code and operations of Animal Protection and Control, and ruling on written appeals regarding animal control violations.
