Prep football: Prairie 70, Fort Vancouver 0

Prairie improved to 2-2 after shutting out visiting Fort Vancouver at District Stadium.

The Falcons dissected the Trappers’ defense through the air early and then on the ground. Quarterback Colin Seitz led his team with two touchdown passes, one rushing TD, with 142 yards in the air and 44 yards on the ground.

“Credit goes to my line tonight,” Seitz said. “It was great to see all of us get involved tonight.”

Prairie coach Terry Hyde said the Falcons’ goal was to get the ball to as many players as possible. In all, 15 players touched the ball and every healthy athlete on the roster played.

“We tried to get everyone involved tonight,” Hyde said. “Our focus was to get the run game going and we did so.”

The Falcons led 55-0 at the half. Normally a passing team, the Falcons did not throw a pass after the early part of the second quarter. The second half was played with a runnning clock.

“We were able to play the way we know we can,” said Prairie receiver Ansel Cecil, who had two catches for 88 yards and two touchdowns. “It was great to have this big of a win, too.”

The Falcons will be traveling to Camas next week.

“We are going to come out with the same intensity as we have for every game,” Hyde said. “We know we are playing Camas because that is what the schedule says, but we are not focusing on our opponent. We need to make sure that we are ready to play.

The Trappers had 20 yards rushing and 32 yards passing.

Fort Vancouver coach Eric Ollikainen called late Friday to report that Flynn Crawford, who left the game in an ambulance, was cleared at the hospital with no broken bones.

Ollikainen also said the Falcons did not run up the score. It was just a matter of one team clicking on offense playing against a struggling defense.

“They didn’t do anything wrong,” Ollikainen said of the Falcons.
