NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) — Kyle Frazier threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to pace Monmouth in a dominant first quarter as the Hawks’ defeated Central Connecticut State 24-12 on Saturday.

Monmouth (2-1, 1-1 Northeast Conference) ran 20 of its 66 plays and amassed 133 yards during the first quarter, in which it led 10-0. Frazier’s 32-yard pass to Neal Sterling and a 41-yard field goal by Eric Spillane accounted for the Hawks’ points.

Monmouth then took a 17-0 lead on Julian Hayes’ 6-yard touchdown run with 12:59 left in the second quarter.

The deficit would prove too much for the Blue Devils (2-2, 1-1) to overcome as they snapped a 15-game home winning streak. It was tied for the longest active streak in Football Championship Series. Central Connecticut State’s prior home loss was 49-14 against Albany on Nov. 17, 2007.

Brian Fowler scored the Blue Devils’ lone touchdown and had 54 yards on 10 carries.
