Bidding Farewell to Friend, Colleague

Reinecke died Sept. 10 at the age of 51 from an unknown medical issue. McDowell was among between 150 to 200 people who turned out to pay tribute to Reinecke, a 13-year veteran officer of the department. McDowell knew Reinecke for almost 30 years after being cadets together at police academy in St. Louis.

A longtime La Center police officer died in his Woodland home the evening of Sept. 10.
Scott Reinecke, 51, died of an unknown medical issue, La Center Police Chief Tim Hopkin said.
Reinecke started working for the La Center Police Department in 1998. He had been on leave since March for a few different surgeries, Hopkin said.
A memorial on Saturday honored Reinecke.
