SEATTLE (AP) — Authorities on Sunday say they still don’t know why an armed Maple Valley man opened fire Saturday near a school in Issaquah east of Seattle before police killed him.

King County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. John Urquhart says detectives are still looking into the 51-year-old man’s background. He adds the man was not known to deputies.

The shooting sent children and parents who were attending a youth football game at Issaquah High School running for cover. The gunman died at the scene. There were no other injuries reported.

Urquhart says the man’s identity will be released by the medical examiner early this week.
