OSLO, Norway (AP) — A Norwegian soccer player collapsed on the field during a game, stricken with cardiac arrest.
The Haukeland University Hospital said Monday that SK Brann midfielder Carl-Erik Torp is stable and awake and will stay in the hospital for further examination.
Norwegian media reported that Torp collapsed during a game against Sogndal in the country’s top league Sunday. The team’s doctor, Atle Kjellsen, told broadcaster NRK he treated Torp with a defibrillator to get his heart beating again.
