Alabama gearing up for new Florida offense

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Alabama coach Nick Saban says Florida’s revamped offense features some familiar staples.

Saban said Monday that the 12th-ranked Gators still feature the same players “doing things that they’re very, very good at.” The third-ranked Crimson Tide’s stingy defense gets its first shot Saturday at the pro-style offense implemented by new Gators offensive coordinator Charlie Weis.

This one starts with handoffs to speedy running backs Chris Rainey and Jeff Demps and much more closely resembles Alabama’s own system. Both teams have a pair of rushers ranked in the Top 10 in the Southeastern Conference.

Florida is leading the league in rushing and has scored 12 touchdowns on the ground.

Alabama is tops against the run and has allowed only one rushing touchdown.
