Community notebook: New bats can be tested at local indoor baseball, softball facility

Extra Innings, an indoor baseball and softball training facility in Vancouver, is hosting a Saturday opportunity for high school baseball players to try the new baseball bats that will be required by the NCAA for college baseball starting in the spring.

Representatives of six bat manufacturers will be available to answer questions about the new bats, and attendees can try out the bats.

This event is only for high school baseball players and will take place from 5-8 p.m.

Extra Innings is at 16303 Northeast 15th St., Suite C.

Fight Night for PAL — Tickets are on sale for a boxing show at 7 p.m. on Oct. 8 at the Clark County Events Center at the county fairgrounds.

Breakaway Social Sports — Play begins this week for the fall season of Breakaway Social Sports, a recreation adult sports program in Vancouver. Leagues are for ages 18 and older. Basketball, flag football, and coed dodgeball leagues are planned for the season that being in the final week of September. Cost for most leagues is $65 per season.

Dan Dickau Basketball Academy Golf Tournament — A golf tournament on Saturday will raise funds to help players participate in programs at the Dan Dickau Basketball Academy.

The tournament is at Lakeview Par-3 Golf Course.

Tee times at 9 a.m. or 11 a.m.

The $50 entry fee includes a post-round barbecue lunch.
