Playoff decides Prairie Invitational

Ilwaco's Kukula tops Hockinson's Huff on fourth extra hole

Ross Kukula from Ilwaco won medalist honors at the Prairie Invitational boys golf tournament on Tuesday by beating Nick Huff from Hockinson on the fourth playoff hole. Both golfers shot a 2-over par 73 over 18 holes at The Cedars on Salmon Creek.

Union finished first among 17 schools participating in the annual tournament.

The Titans’ five golfers scored 313 to finish six strokes better than Ilwaco’s Fishermen. Trey Udy of Woodland and Brandon Waudby of Camas each finished with a score of 74, with Udy earning third place on the second playoff hole.

Skyview’s Garrett Kooistra and Union’zs Ian Spicer shared fifth place with rounds of 75.

Two of Spicer’s teammates — Alistair Docherty and Eddie Abellar — shot 76 to help the Titans to the team title.

Mountain View finished third in the team scoring at 322. Collin Herrema’s 78 led the Thunder. Hockinson was fourth at 323 and Camas fifth at 324.
